Logan, the Sky Angel Cowboy!

But God demonstrates His own love toward us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Romans 5:8 (NKJV)

Merry Christmas! To me this Christmas is like none other. This Christmas, I am not anxious to open new gifts. I am rejoicing over what has already been given.

This Christmas I am so content, and I hope you are too. Even if it is a sad day for some, we can take joy in God’s greatest gift, His Son, Jesus Christ.

Logan, a young man living on a ranch near Houston, Texas called in to a radio show to express that truth so very well. So please, if you can, take a couple minutes, listen to a young and tender voice and be reminded as I was of this great and noble truth.

This Christmas, God still speaks to us in amazing ways. Here’s wishing you and yours God’s most marvelous joy—knowing His love.

Father God, thank You for Your gift, this great sacrifice of love....

The Character of a Prayer Warrior

He was faithful and honest and always responsible. ... Daniel ... knelt down as usual in his upstairs room with his windows open to Jerusalem. He prayed three times a day, just as he had always done, giving thanks to his God.

Daniel 6:4,10 (NLT)

I have always admired Daniel. In fact, I want to be more like him: loyal, fearless, godly. These are good traits among so many more. You know, I've never read anything negative about Daniel--either in God's word or in commentaries. I just haven't seen it, and the Scripture tells us his enemies didn't see it either. Daniel was a very godly man: disciplined, doing what needed to be done regardless of the cost to self.

One of Daniel's secret disciplines, which was not so secret, was prayer and thanksgiving. Hmm. Since I want to be more like Daniel, I think I'll follow his example. As I do, I want to resume praying with fervency and purpose three times a day, focused on great needs and deep heart interests. I want to pray for family and friends and special needs. As I do, I know what this discipline will do. It will bring healing and restoration, victory and focus and ultimately, I think, it will change me. I know it will. It will help me be the better person God wants me to be. What more could anyone want?

Father, help me to be like Your man Daniel, but even more, help me be the person You want me to be--fully devoted to You! Amen.
