Discovering God’s Dream for You
"Fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge."
Proverbs 1:7 (NLT)
"Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me."
John 15:4 (NKJV)
"Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths."
Proverbs 3:5-6 (NKJV)
"… be transformed by the renewing of your mind that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God."
Romans 12:2b (NKJV)
Embark – “Go therefore….”
Matthew 28:19a (NKJV)
I am convinced that discovering our biggest dream is God’s desire for our lives (F.A.T.E.). Or how about another way to think of it? Consider these descriptive words for our passages above: reverence, relate, rely, rethink and rendezvous (for, to, on, concerning and with God).
I’ve been thinking about this for some time—perhaps subconsciously. My life verse you see is Psalm 37:4, but I love the verses before and after too:
Trust in the LORD and do good;
Dwell in the land and feed on His faithfulness.
Delight yourself also in the LORD,
And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Commit your way to the LORD,
Trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass.
The real secret to discovering God's dream for us? As we seek God, He changes us. He changes our desires, so that His desires become our own. Ultimately, Solomon, after a long and trying search, discovered this key to life, this cornerstone for fulfilling the best of dreams. Read his following conclusion found in Ecclesiastes 12:13 (NCV).
Now everything has been heard, so I give my final advise: Honor God and obey his commands, because this is all people must do.
It’s as simple as our first command, “Love the LORD your God with all your heart….”
Father, I love You. Help me love You more, and let Your dreams come true in me. Amen.
