Never Forget What God Has Done

But watch out! Be very careful never to forget what you have seen the Lord do for you. Do not let these things escape from your mind as long as you live! And be sure to pass them on to your children and your grandchildren. Deuteronomy 4:9 (NLT)

Consider these wise words from Moses. He experienced life in a way the world will long remember and retell. The same God who worked breathtaking miracles then ... works in my life today.

While I was not there for the parting of the Red Sea, I have seen the miracle of the birth of a son—three times. I have not seen water flow from a rock to quench the thirst of two-million people, but I have seen the desires of a special needs child satisfied time after time. And I have not been led through the dark desert night by a pillar of fire, but God’s word has trained me, and His very Spirit has led me faithfully through more than one desert experience.

I cannot forget His watchfulness and tender care through so many of life’s trials and hardships—and neither should you. Pass them on. Write them down. Share them.

Remember His miraculous love for you!

Lord, You have always taken care of me—even when I didn’t know you were there! Help me share this truth, this love. Amen.

Take Me There

… to give you a future and a hope … call upon Me … and I will bring you to the place. Jeremiah 29:11-14 (NKJV)

Life should be fun, exciting, full of adventure, but for many of us life seems anything but…. We struggle with schedules, with work, with responsibilities and the stack of bills gathering from our vain attempts to catch a slice of the good life. When will we learn?

God has a better plan. He is fully aware of our situations, our messes, and yet, He quietly calls out to each one of us. Can you hear Him? “I’m thinking about you,” He says. “In fact, I’ve got plans—big plans for you! Thoughts and intentions for a real future, with real peace, real hope. Come on! Ask Me what it is!”

When will we realize, it’s not about us. It’s about Him and it’s about the place He wants to take us.

Lord, You have my heart. Show me Your will … and take me there! Amen.

True Life

Open your hearts…. 2 Corinthians 6:13b (NLT)

My wife often reminds me, “Talk to me!” … and now I read this.

I hate to admit it, but it’s true. I miss out on meaningful conversations. Like when I leave the room because I am being challenged and don't want to even think about changing my ways. Or when I see an opportunity to say hello or talk to someone—and don't. Or when an intimate conversation develops, but I cut it short to watch my favorite TV show. I mean opening up is a chore, isn’t it? But, on the other hand, I know I need to share what’s going on inside. Does anybody else feel this way?

As I mull this over, I think God wants two things from us. Number one, He wants our hearts, and number two, He wants us to share our hearts with others. You see, true fellowship, true prayer and true witnessing come when we share our hearts.

Active, healthy Body life happens when we share our lives just as He shared His. This is what Paul encouraged the Corinthians to do when he said, “We have spoken honestly with you.… Open your hearts to us!” Paul knew, as we get real with God and real with each other, real life follows. God calls us to this life. It is a life of openness. It is a life of sharing.

Do you hear God’s call? To whom will you open up? Ask Him for an opportunity to share your heart … and see what happens!

Lord, open my heart. Help me to speak the truth in love. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
