Change that’s Good
When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things.
1 Corinthians 13:11 (NKJV)
This morning I am just a little sad, because it has happened again. In fact, it’s happened every day this past month. When I wake up my 9-year old son, he no longer wants a piggyback ride down to breakfast. A small reminder: my son is becoming a man, time marches on and life gets different. Things change.
But change is good. I remember being at a friends house this last Sunday. It was full of kids, young kids, and it wasn’t long before we heard a bump and crying. And then came those faintly familiar, high-pitched words, “He pushed me!”
Yes. Change is good. And Alex is just growing up. There’s no need to be sad. He is getting better. He is growing in character … and grace. And that’s just what God wants!
Father, thank You for children and thank You for change. How great it is to see Your changes in them!
