Finding Family
God places the lonely in families….
Psalm 68:6a (NLT)
The young woman wiped the tears from her eyes as the group sat quietly listening. A slow but certain healing was working its way into the warm, spring evening. Not just in the woman’s heart but in all ten gathered here around the table.
She was separated, others were divorced, and some of us harbored other painful wounds. We all needed healing and we all needed each other. This was the Body of Christ—in need and in action.
All of us felt it … I’m sure. It filled the room: comfort, peace and great hope. Though we’d only been together 5 weeks, God was joining us together, restoring life to our souls and bringing healing to our hearts. This was the power of God: healing and restoring what had been torn apart and tossed aside.
This is the power of God, and this is where the power of God works: in and through the Body of Christ, His Church, His people. What a privilege and what a joy: to have family, this kind of family—the family of God!
Lord, though life is not easy, You have made it easier. Thank You for Your family—the family of God!
