The Common Miracle
… he said to Simon, “Now go where it’s deeper and let down your nets, and you will catch many fish.”
“Master,” Simon replied, “we have worked all night and didn’t catch a thing. But if you say so, we’ll try again.” And this time their nets were so full they began to tear!
Luke 4:5-6 (NLT)
I need this passage; and I love this story. I want to make it my own, don’t you? Oh, to have my eyes opened like Simon Peter’s: to see God work through me!
This lesson from Christ is so simple and so true; and it is just as real for me now as it was for Simon and all his fishing buddies. It’s this understanding that God’s fruit, God’s bounty comes when we abandon our plans, our efforts and give ourselves completely to His.
That’s it. This simple truth: when I follow His instructions, He does in my life what I never could.
For many of us, it’s a miracle indeed … a miracle we all can share!
Lord, speak to my heart, open my eyes, and do great things through me. Amen.
