Planting Seeds
So be careful how you live, not as fools but as those who are wise. Make the most of every opportunity for doing good in these evil days.
Ephesians 5:15-16 (NLT)
Be sure to stay busy and plant a variety of crops, for you never know which will grow—perhaps they all will.
Ecclesiastes 11:6 (NLT)
Paul said, “Make the most of every opportunity.” Solomon said, “Be sure to stay busy.” David said, “Teach me, O Lord, to number my days that I may gain a heart of wisdom.” These great men knew the truth and they shared it freely.
The truth is, time is short and there is a harvest all around us—just waiting to be picked. We call these opportunities, and we would be wise to take advantage of them. Perhaps we should think about our contacts, our coworkers, our neighbors in a different way. We should ask ourselves, what are there spiritual needs? What can I do for them? Can I offer an encouraging word? How can I show Christ’s love?
If I am to live for Christ, I need to take advantage of these opportunities … while they are here. What can I say? What can I do? I want to make the most of every opportunity. How about you?
Lord, help me become wise in using time. Help me to love and encourage others. Help me to share my faith in non-threatening ways, and shine through me, for Jesus’ sake. Amen.
